Sentec look back on year of strong progress

12/12/07

Sentec have celebrated their 10th anniversary with a year of excellent progress, with the company achieving record levels of turnover. Sales from the contract services side of the business in particular were very strong, with ten new clients won and deepening relationships with companies such as NCR, Selex Systems and Sensus Metering

In a reflection of widespread corporate concerns about the carbon agenda, many new clients are turning to Sentec for help in optimising the energy efficiency of their new products, as well as adding extra functionality and reducing the costs of their technologies.

Other highlights of the year include:

  • Progress in negotiations for rights to Sterling, Sentec's water meter technology, outside the US. Amongst other, discussions about licence terms are continuing with a top three global player and a prominent far eastern manufacturer
  • Positive results from testing for Lattice, a low cost solid state gas metering design. Lattice has finished the year as the winner of the European Utility Award for Innovation with keen interest from global players and a deal close to conclusion with a shortlist of favoured companies
  • Significant meter supply wins for Sentec's partner Sensus Metering Systems, providing further royalty streams from Sentec's Monius technology.

"We are very pleased with our performance this year,"; said Dr Mark England, Sentec's MD. "We have seen excellent progress with licensing Lattice and Sterling, which has been underpinned by strong performances in our contract services business"

Sentec was founded in Cambridge in October 1997 and has grown from a company of 2, run from a Cambridge home, to a thriving 24 man organisation, with licensees and clients all over the world.

Andrew Dames, founder and board member, said: "I'm very proud of the business we have built at Sentec since we started. With the worldwide growth of the smart meter market and the strong trend for acquiring innovation from third parties, we think the next few years are going to be particularly prosperous ones for Sentec."
