Low carbon sensing and control

As the market for renewable energy grows, attention is turning to improving performance by innovation in sensing and control. This trend is driven by a number of factors, such as increasing segmentation of markets providing opportunities to fine tune product for each application and a slowing of competitive advantage from innovation in core technologies such as turbines or solar cells.

These factors mean that the supporting elements in renewable generation installations – the sensors, drivetrain, power electronics and balance of system – are receiving increasing interest, with specific challenges for different sectors: in wind, for example, improvements in condition sensing and power control are fertile ground for efficiency gain and cost reduction, while in solar, attention is turning to balance of system architectures, tracking and optimising systems and inverter designs.

Sentec generating new solutions

Sentec is well placed to help companies meet these challenges. Many of the technical demands in the cleantech sector are related to areas at which Sentec excels, such as meeting challenging requirements in sensing and control, power management, and low cost electronics.
