Sentec Reaches Agreement With Sensus to form UK ‘Centre of Excellence’
Sentec, the Cambridge-based IP and technology developer, has reached an agreement with Sensus whereby Sensus has acquired wholly the share capital of Sentec in order to form a UK Centre of Excellence.
Sentec has an 18 year history developing its own Intellectual Property, licensing that IP, and providing development services to its licensees for product developments based on that IP. Further Sentec provides 3rd party development services to select clients in its core areas of business, namely those of Smart Grid, Smart Buildings, Automotive, and the Connected Consumer.
Sentec and Sensus have a long and productive relationship stretching back over 10 years, and have decided to move that relationship closer in order to address the needs of tomorrow’s utility and infrastructure customers. “To provide the customer experience now demanded by both companies’ customers, we need to integrate our technologies, products, and services to achieve higher levels of functionality and efficiency than previously achievable” said Sentec CTO Mark England. “This tie-up will enable us to achieve this, in turn delivering customer benefits which will enable our customers to maintain their class-leading positions”.
Sentec will maintain its independence, team, and operations in Cambridge, and continue business as normal. “This change of ownership will enable Sentec to further invest and develop its IP portfolio and resources to meet the increasing requirements of both companies’ customers as they look to exploit the full potential of connected devices and data.” said Sentec CEO Chris Shelley. “Sensus already has a strong commitment to invest in R&D, this tie-up will further bolster that commitment by bringing the complementary capabilities of both companies closer together – Sentec will function as a centre of excellence, continuing to provide its current range of services to its, and Sensus’, existing and future customers.”
Integral to Sentec’s innovation engine is the provision of 3rd party services to all its clients, both those who leverage Sentec’s IP, and those who leverage its expertise. This change of ownership will enable Sentec to continue to provide these services and additionally to potentially exploit the range of Sensus’ products and technologies – such as FlexNet communications.
“Sentec looks forward to working more closely with Sensus, and to continuing its relationships with the many customers who already benefit from, and value, the unique technical expertise Sentec brings to their innovations.” said Shelley.
